Artist Statement:
My art practice showcases my deep immersion of the unknown, the conceptual, the mind-bending, and the philosophically stimulating. Thus, my creative process embarks like this: I receive a prompt or innate motivation to create art, and I immediately start envisioning a beautiful final piece in my head. Oftentimes, I unintentionally incorporate the most fascinating ideas I have most recently thought about or researched, which guides the message I want to portray in my artwork. Sometimes, I create a blueprint sketch of what I aspire to create. In doing so, I utilize my abrasive, nuanced music to accompany me as I perform, paint elegantly, construct meticulously, or draw aggressively.
Philosophy has always undoubtedly influenced my creative process, especially in an implicit fashion, as I use my philosophical lens to create values and meaning to exercise my human autonomy. Trauma is yet another outlet of continual inspiration as I cope with artistic expression and try to make sense of the suffering in our world through pessimistic philosophies such as solipsism, cosmicism, antinatalism, and terror management theory. Furthermore, political, societal, and cultural issues lure me to evoke boundless emotion. Combined with my fascination in political philosophy, I reap pivotal ideas in the readings of Fascist, Marxist, and other theorists to create. For instance, I recently explored the intersection of Existentialism and fascism in Studio Art, where I created an abstract sculpture surrounding those ideas. Alas, film is an extreme influence as the longstanding imagery of psychological thrillers continues to dwell in my mind.
