8. Boris & Merzbow-2ROI2PO (8.9) [Post rock/Noise collaboration that's immersive and euphoric]

7. Idles-Ultra Mono (9.0) [Our favorite socialist screamers. Enjoyable post punk with some really crushing instrumentals]

6. Run The Jewels-RTJ4 (9.1) [Best rap album this year. Great chemistry between duo, great lyrics, great beats]

5. Keleketla! & Coldplay-Keleketla! (9.1) [Historic cultural release, fusing an extremely diverse group of genres in an authentic manner]

4. Cinemartyr-Death of the First Person (9.2) [Extremely underrated underground noise rock band. Best release from the underground this year]

3. Fiona Apple-Fetch the Bolt Cutters (9.3) [She does not disappoint with taking her common hiatuses by making an immediate classic album. Storytelling, singing, and instrumentals are near impeccable]

2. The Microphones-Microphones in 2020 (9.4) [Truly great release from the legendary Phil Elvrum. Packed with anecdotal lyrics and nostalgia]

1. Black Dresses-Peaceful as Hell (9.5) [Sadly, disbanded duo shortly after the release of this album. However, it will stand as one of the most abrasive, genuine hyperpop albums of all time. Will stand in support for sexual assault victims and the transgender community forever]
